Discovering an ovarian cyst during pregnancy can be a scary feeling given that you may not know exactly the seriousness of the cyst. Usually, it most likely nothing to worry about unless it continues to grow and begins to become twisted in the ovary. Most of the time, functional ovarian cysts are normal occurrences during pregnancy and disappear naturally with time. The only time an expecting mother should be concerned is if it becomes a hemorrhagic ovarian cyst. In this case, it may cause abdominal pain and can potentially require a surgical procedure to remove if it continues to bleed into the cyst.
