Let’s face it: our children are the most precious gifts we could ever be entrusted with. We care about them and agonize whether as parents we are being too protective or not protective enough. From the first day we knew they were on their way, we took care of them as best as we could. Now they are toddlers, ‘big boys and girls’ as we keep praising them every time they amaze us with their progress as little people. It is a special time of our lives, theirs too.

Sadly, too many of them never make it to their first day at school. As difficult as this is for a father of five to write, the reality is we will all know someone who has lost a child at some time in our journey through this life. As someone once said, parents should never have to bury their children, there are good reasons why it should be the other way around.
