The History of the Guru Monk LP Thuad

LP Thuad is a very famous guru monk from Thailand who was born over 400 years ago and some say that he has never actually died. Legend suggests that his magical existence has been perpetuated by his successive transformations from the body of an old man into a well chosen young novice monk.

Luang Phor Thuad, or sometimes known as LP Tuad, was born a premature baby named Pu in 2125 B.E. (1582AD) in southern Thailand. There are magical stories of his childhood. The most famous and celebrated is that of the Serpent Protector. One day when Pu’s parents were working on their farm an enormous snake came upon the sleeping baby and coiled itself around Pu’s body. The distraught parents and villagers did not know what to do – if they approached the cobra the baby would surely be killed. Then Pu’s mother had the idea that if she showed respect to the snake he might leave the baby unharmed. She picked flowers and made rice and bowed to the snake, offering the flowers and rice cakes, begging it to give up the child. The snake opened it’s gaping mouth and spat out a mystical crystal ball which was illuminated with a rainbow of colors. The crystal rested on the chest of LP Thuad and then the snake took the flowers, and left Pu unharmed.

This was the first miracle in the life of LP Thuad…… there are many more to come.
